AN APPEAL ALLOWED.
[by telegraph.—press association.] Dunedin, Wednesday. Mb. Justice Williams gave his decision today in an appeal case from the decision of Mr. C. C. Graham, S.M. A man named Walters had been arrested as a deserter from the British navy, and while awaiting the result of negotiations with the Admiralty was liberated on bail,, his employer, E. F. Lawrence, becoming bondsman. Walters disappeared under circumstances Which might imply suicide, and bail was estreated. The appeal was against that decision. Mr. Justice Williams decided that the magistrate had no power to let the man out on bail or take the bail bond, and the appeal was allowed, no costs being asked for.
