VISIT TO THE GEYSERS.
SOAPING ORDER CANCELLED. [BY telegraph.— OWN connE.si'o.vai;NT.] Rotoiuta, Wednesday. The officers of the French warsh.ip Protet visited Waimangn yesterday, but jvere not fortunate in seeing an eruption of the geyser. This morning Wairoa geyser was to have been soaped for their benefit, and they were in attendance at' seven o'clock. To their surprise, however, the order authorising the soaping had been cancelled for some as yet unexplained reason, and they had to take their departure from Rotorua much disappointed. The officers were taken over Wliakarewarewa by Guide Maggie, who made their visit as pleasant as possible. A h;vka was also given in their honour last night. Their disappointment at not seeing either Waimangu or Wairoa in eruption was very keen.
