The guests of honour at the review of the Guards Army Corps were the newly-married, Grand Duke and Duchess of Mecklenbu'rg-Schwerin, the bride being the daughter of the Duke of Cumberland. The Kaiser conferred on the Duchess the honorary colonelcy of his grenadier regiment. It has been officially announced that the Crown Prince of Germany has been betrothed to the Duchess Cecilie of Mecklenburg-Schwerin.
The Duchess Oecilie, sister of the Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, was born on September 16. 1886; the Crown Prince was born in 1882.
