AN EXPLANATION.
[IIY TELEGRAPH. — PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Thursday. With reference to the telegram yesterday about Mr. Jellicoe's costs in Mitchell's case, it is explained that bills of costs were rendered as far back as September, 1302, and that from that date Mr. Jellicoe, so far as his own personal exertions were concerned, acted gratuitously for Mitchell throughout the further proceedings in the Court of Appeal and Privy Council. The order mad© was by consent, and from correspondence in the matter it appears that it was also made at Mr. Jellicoe's request. This explanation is due to Mr. Jellicoe.
