HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the Auckland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held at tbe Board's offices, High-street, yesterday afternoon, Mr. G. J. Garland (chairman) presiding. Thero were alto present: Messrs. A. Bruce, M. Casey, L. J. Bagnall, J. A. Beale, J. McLeod, J. Bollard, M.H.R.

New House Physician: A cablegram received from Professor Alien, Melbourne, was read, announcing that Dr. Ferguson, who held high honours, was on las way to Auckland by the Zealandia to take up bis duties as house physician at the district hospital. The Zealanaia arrived last night. Infectious diseases Hospital Site: Messrs. Dignan and Armstrong wrote declining the Board's offer of £50 per acre for the site at Point Chevalier for the infectious diseases hospital. The area required is rathei upwards of eight acres. Further action was deferred till next meeting pending certain information from the Government as to the means of acquiring the land. Costley Home Commission: A voluminous document bearing on the Costley Home inquiry and the action of the Royal Commission in connection with same was received from the late manager (Mr. Moss). It was decided that, in view of the fact that the personnel of the Board had been greatly changed since the inquiry— at. the request of Mr. Moss—and the subsequent action of the Roval Commission, no good purpose could be served by the Board reopening the* matter. _. , rt _ Costley Home Grounds: Messrs. Fi&ter and Sons wrote offering the Board additional land adjoining the Costiey Home at Epsom. Mr. Casev thought it desirable that an additional area should be obtained, and after a brief discussion the matter was deferred till next meeting.
