"GREATER AUCKLAND."
THE GREY LYNN MOVEMENT. Tiie " Greater Auckland" movement, which has been taken up by the Grey Lynn Borough Council, on Iho initiative of (he Mayor (Mr. J. W. Shackelford), was advanced a second stage last evening, when the Council resolved, on the recommendation of the Finance and Legal Committee, to call a meeting of municipal electors, to be held in St. George's Hull oil Wednesday, the 20th inst., to discuss the question of the amalgamation of the borough with the city of Auckland. The Mayor of the borough will preside, and the Mavor of Auckland (Hon. E. Mitcholson), Mr. G. Fowlds, M.H.R., Mr. It. T. Warnock (ex-Mayor of Grey Lynn), and Messrs. H. C. Brown and C. J. Parr (city councillors) will be ashed to address the meeting. The town clerk was instructed to prepaie a statement (to be laid before the meeting) of the position of the borough in relation to the question of amalgamation, and to write to the town clerks of Wellington and Christchurch foi any information that they may bt able to supply in this connection. The .special speakers named will lx allotted a quarter of an lioui each, and it is proposed to limit members of tho Borough Council tc 10 minutes, and othei speakers to live minutes each.
