" At the Opera House last night the Anderson Dramatic: Company ; gave another fine performance of the sensational drama, "When London Sleeps," the :closing representation of which is announced for this evening. Tomorrow Alexandre Dumas' 'brilliant; work, " Camille,'' will be staged, with 1 Miss Eugenie Duggan in the title role. This play, which is being produced on an adequate scale in regard to the mounting and lighting effects, affords. ample scope for good acting. Miss Duggan's conception of the part is said to.bo such as to invite comparison even with the Camilies of Mrs. Brown-Potter and Miss Nance O'Neil. On Saturday evening a companion play to" Drink," entitled "Man's Enemy," will be produced. "THE ADMIRABLE CRIOHTON." His Majesty's Theatre was again filled in all parts last night,'when Mr. J. C. Williamson s company gave their fourth production of "The Admirable Grichton." Mr. Guyler j Hastings, whoso methods are worthy of the [very highest traditions of the stage, filled I ,tho title rolo in a manner worthy of all [ praise. Mr. Edmund Gwenn's clever por- : trayal of the Earl of Loam and the excellent i work of the remaining members of the com- ! pany made a great impression. This exceptionally bright and mirthful comedy can only | be produced for two more nights, as on j Saturday it will have to give way to a reI vival of that immensely popular drama, I " Sherlock Holmes." | POPULAR CONCERT. The third of tho series of popular concerts under the direction of Madam Lilian Tree and Herr Louis Blitz was given at the Choral Hall last night, when there was a good attendance. The musical faro offered was of a high order, and proved eminently to tho taste of tho audience. Mrs. M. Hamilton Hodgos, who made her reappearance after a somewhat lengthy absence from the local concert platform, was cordially welcomed. Her contributions were sung very artistically, causing pleasure to her listeners. | Mrs. ' Hodges' programme numbers were Saint Saen's "My Heart at Thy Sweet Voice," from "Samson and Delila," and Tosti's ballad "Parted." Mr. M. Hamilton Hodges, who was in fine voice, gave remarkably good deliveries ■■ of his solos, " Toreador" . from " Carmen" (sung by request), and the bracketed numbers, " Ono More," : "Song of Sleep" (Somerset), and "Ballad of Kisses" (Sonierville). With Mrs. Hodges the popular baritone also sang Gabussi's duet, "The Fishermen." There were enthusiastic recalls after the items of both these artistes,-and each of them submitted agreeable extra numbers. Miss Clarice Buokman, a little singer but 12 years of age, displayed a pretty quality of voice (mezzo-soprano) in Lane's " Life's Lullaby," which she rendered very well. She was warmly encored. Miss Maud Donovan, whoso voice, always of good : quality, has : much improved of late, gave Donizetti's aria, "O Mio Fernando," from ; "La Favorita," and Zardi's "To-night. Both were sung with real merit. Miss Lilian Aulsebrook (a pupil of Madam Tree's), who has a mezzo-soprano organ of distinct beauty, was deservedly encored for her sympathetic and meritorious rendering of " O Dry Those Tears" (Do Riei?o). Mr. Gerald Ralph provided an artistically-played violin obligate Messrs. Ralph, Blitz and Warner were heard in delightful renderings of the instrumental trios, "Dandier" (Laugev) and "Minuet and Trio" (Haydn). Mr. Poore's flute; solos, "Cavatina" (Clinton) and " Carnival of Venice," met with much appreciation, and Miss Abbott's piano solos were artistically treated. The accompaniments were shared by Madam Lilian Tree and Mrs. Ernest H. Queree, and were very tastefully played. Encores wero frequent throughout the evening. For the next concert the opera " Faust" is in preparation, to be rendered in camera form. Tho promoters are sparing no pains to make the- concerts enjoyable, and their efforts are decidedly praiseworthy and deserving of popularity. _____
