The crime statistic? for the' Canterbury district supplied by the police state that there ■were 3972 offences reported in. 1903, as against 3776 in 1902 ; '3851 persons were apprehended and summoned: 125 men and three women were - committed for trial 3132 men and 336 women were dealt with summarily; and 261 men and 14 women were discharged.
