FLOODS IN THE SOUTH.
[BY telegraph.—press association.] Hokitika, Tuesday. News by mail brings a report of widespread damage and loss by floods in South Westland. Settlers lost heavily in stock, sheep suffering most. .'. A good deal of land was submerged, and roads and bridges were badly damaged, some of the latter being completely destroyed. Traffic in the South is generally interrupted, mails* being much delayed.
