BAKERS CHARGED WITH ADULTERATING BREAD
[BY TELEGRAPH.PRESS ASSOCIATION.] ' Ashburton, Friday. In the Magistrate's Court' to-day, a baker pleaded guilty to adulterating bread with alum, and was fined £2 and costs. Iu the cas~ ot another baker, similarly charged, the point was raised that under section 23 of the Adulteration Prevention Act the information should have been laid 72 hours after the offence, and, as the information was hot laid for 12 days after the alleged offence, the case was dismissed. The magistrate also revoked his decision in the other case, and remitted the fine, the circumstances being the same. >'
