FISHING REGULATIONS.
A BOAT CONFISCATED.
; [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] - :•;.-.;>■' ;;.'■:'-', Thames, Tuesday.' The local inspector of fisheries (Mr. P. Bennett) to-day paid a surprise visit to the fishing r operations proceeding in the gulf towards the Piako Flats, and as a result he confiscated the fishing boat of Messrs. J. Lidgard and Taylor for alleged breach of the new regulations . that have recently come into force, which prohibit the use of .nets within a space of 20 fathoms of each other. The inspector also seized a ; number, of alleged undersized flounders that were in the boat. Consequently Police Court proceedings are to be taken on each charge. .'
