ONE-TREE HILL ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the One-tree Hill Road Board was held at the Newmarket Hall on Monday. Present: Messrs. H. B. Morton (chairman), E. W. Burton, Robert Hall, and H. B. Devcreux. Tho treasurer was directed to apply to Wellington for £500, being the balance of loan authorised for remaking Manukau Road. The clerk was directed to call the attention of the Tramways Company to the condition of the Manukau Road along the tramlines between Market Road and Coffey's Hill. A committee was appointed to meet a committee from the Epsom Road Board on Friday with reference to tho formation of a footpath on eastern side of Manukau Road, and also to devise means to carry off the storm water near the tramway depot. A letter was received from Mr. J. Knowles Parker, asking the Board to assist in laying a drain from lot 30 on Market Road, 1 connecting with the present drain along Webb Lane. It was resolved that he be informed that the Board regrets that it cannot legally contribute to the drainage of Mr. Parker's land. Mr. J. R. Reed, instructed by Mr. Thomas Allan, wrote claiming £25 as compensation for injuries sustained by him from falling over some stones on Manukau Road. Tho letter was read, and ordered to be received. Mr. Hansen wrote requesting that the documents in connection with the trust deed bo signed by the Board. It was resolved "That the chairman and Mr. Burton be empowered to sign at their discretion." The clerk was directed to give the necessary legal_ notice of the Board's intention at next meeting to make a general rate of throeeighths of a penny in the £, and a hospital and charitable aid rate of one-eighth of a penny, on all ratable property in the district for the coming year. Accounts to the amount of £167 6s were passed for payment.
