Dannevirkßj Tuesday The first carnival of the Hawke's Bay Axemen's Association was largely attended. The results are as follows Champion chop of Hawke's Bay : Berkahn, 1; Pretty, 2. Time, 3m. 555. There was some indignation at the chop being a standing one, instead of a square cut, as at first arranged. Champion saw : Volzke Brothers, 1 ; Young and Beubow, 2. Time, 30s. Doublehanded saw : Benbow and McNamara, 1 ; Saunders and McPherson, 2. Time, 38 2-ss. Underhand square-cut saw : Pont, 1 ; Milwood, 2. Time, 3m. 20s. Hewing (underhand) : Saunders, 1; Peddar, 2.
