EMPIRE DAY.

Tafi members of the Empire Veterans' Association held church parades yesterday forenoon, in connection with Empire Day. The Protectant members paraded at the corner of Abercrombie and Symonds Streets, under Captain Thos. Broun, F.K.E.S., and attended the service at St. Paul's Church, the Right Rev. Bishop Julius, of Christehurch. delivering an eloquent and appropriate sermon. The Roman Catholic members paraded in Lower Hob-son-street, under the command of Captain Geo. Leahy, and attended mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral. There was a good master at both parades, though the unsettled nature of the weather militated a little against a full attendance. The public observance of Empire Day will be to-day, Which is a public holiday.
