AUCKLAND CLUB. The Auckland Club hgd a splendid muster on. Saturday, when the second practice of the season was held at Buckland's paddock, Epsom. A match was played between teams selected on the ground, and there was a very marked improvement shown in the play all round. Evidently it will not take many more practices to get the members of the team conversant with the game as it should be played. The Auckland Club practice with United to-day at the tatter's ground, and all members who can get oft are requested to be on the ground by half-past two p.m.

The United Hockey Club held another practice 011 their ground at Remuera ' 011 Saturday, ant] had a very large attendance of members. A •first-class exhibition of hockey was given by the sides chosen by Messrs. Barry and Oallendar, and when time was called the result was two goals each. In the back division, White, on one side, and Brown on the other, were the most conspicuous, and young members would do well to imitate those two players in the manner of hitting. Morpeth, Thornes, and Reid, among the forwards, put in useful work, but are a little inclined to lose their places. A great deal of '"scraping" is indulged in by tho younger members, and this fault should be remedied as early as possible. Mr. H. Wilson performed the duties of referee in a fair and impartial manner.
