The annual conference of fhe Australian leagues will this year be held in Adelaide some time towards the close of the present month. The New Zealand League will not be represented. „ „,,., , According to an exchange, the Chnstcnttrch Cycling Club is likely to organise a motor carnival, to be held at Lancaster Park on Empire Day (May 25). ' There is every likolihood of another handicap for £1000 "being held in Sydney next season. , ~,, , N. C. Hopper, who won the ' Sydney Thousand," is on his way back to America. He talks of coming out to Australia again next year. The Dunlop road race, from Warrnambool to Melbourne, will take place this year on August 22. This date is a week earlier than that of last year. Cyclists at a Terang sports meeting recently made a determined protest against the enforcement of the Betting Suppression Act, introduced by the "Victorian Government. Practically the whole of those entered for the various events refused to compete. The great Gordon-Bennett motor road race is to be decided in Ireland on July 9. Great things are expected from J. Nelson, a, young American pace-follower, now in Paris. Nelson, who has been dubbed the " flying schoolboy," is a brother of tho unfortunate Johnny Nelson, who was killed in a bad smash up some time back at the Madison Square Gardens, New York. Young Nelson is yet only in his teens, but already holds all the American competition records from ono to 20 miles..
