ACCIDENT TO A TRAIN.
AN EXCITING INCIDENT.
[by telegraph.—pkess ASSOCIATION.] Stbatfqed, Thursday. A wash-out occurred on the filling of the Toko line yesterday at seven p.m., by reason of 'which a train, consisting of an engine, waggon, cream van, two carriages, and a guard's van, fell a distance of 10ft. The driver and fireman jumped inwards, and escaped injury. If they had remained in their usual position they must have been seriously jammed and possibly killed. The engine is resting on its wheels next to the waggon, which is standing on end, while the cream van is reared in the air. fl The passengers, beyond an unpleasant sTiock, were not hurt. The accident occurred three-quarters of a mile out of Toko. Special trains, with a crane and other material, have gone out to effect repairs. Traffic is suspended. Several small wash-outs have occurred as a result of heavy rains.
