ElectoralrpO THE ELECTORS OF WAITEMATA. Ladies xsp gentlemen, - Having been requested by a large body of electors to offer myself as a Candidate* for your suffrages. I have finally decided to place my services at your dis- ! posal. j After Parliament dissolves I will, as soon j as convenient, address the Electors, and in j the meantime announce myself an unswerv- j ing advocate of:— 1. Economy in. the cost of Administration j as opposed to the present system of reckless | extravagance; also, that the finances of the ■ colony be controlled by Parliament, and not | .solely by Ministers. j 2. More vigorous encouragement of Settle- j ineiit bv the State in opening up and dispos- ! ing of Crown and Native Lands in the North Island, granting purchasers the option' of acquiring the Freehold. 3. That the largo Estates held by the AssetsCompany, which are really under control of the Government, be subdivided and disposed of in areas suitable for close settlement. 4. A defined policy of borrowing for Public Works, and the energetic prosecution of such works, up to a revenue-producing point, or completion. 5. That important Public Works be carried out under a system of contract, as against the present wasteful co-operative system. 6. That the Upper House be Elective by the people. 7. That the expenditure on Roads and Bridges. Railways, and Land for Settlement in the North Island be at least equal tc that of the South Island. Yours faithfully, EWEN WM. ALISON.
