A ROY KILLED.
« [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Dunedbc, Monday. An accident occurred on Saturday afternoon, as the result of some children playing with railway waggons on the gasworks siding, Anderson's Bay Road. H. W. Kitto, 11 j ears of age, got hi:; head caught between the buffers of two trucks, with the result that the skull was severely fractured. He died at five o'clock yesterday. At the inquest the evidence showed that deceased, with others, was playing with the railway trucks. One was on "the gasworks siding" and one on the main line. As the boys were pushing the latter it was evident it "would strike the other truck which was projecting from the siding, and the _ deceased, who was the son of an engine-driver, attempted to push the truck further on to the siding to avoid a collision, and was .jammed between the two trucks. The jury returned a verdict of " Accidental death," adding a rider calling the attention of the authorities to the necessity for taking precautions in future to prevent- similar accidents. It was explained that the railway authorities' duty ended when they gave the trucks to the corporation at the siding.
