Simpson's win in the mile handi--4 . cap race at the Civil Service Sports, London, last week, give the time as 4m, 18 2-53., in- ' stead of 3m. 58 2-55., the time stated in the «% cablegram received here. The New Zealand athlete, it will be remembered, had \ * ; 85yds start in the race in question, and as '■■■■* the time given in the Sydney papers would make the performance equal to about 4m. ||| * 325. for the full mile, the probability is that r ♦m. 18 2-ss. is correct. r - - ■ *•' • " : GOLF. To-morrow (Coronation Day) the Auckland Golf Club holds an "At Home" in the afternoon, and in order to enable members and their friends to get out to the links with ease, the usual golf members' 'bus will leave Bishopsoourt at one p.m. for the clubhouse, returning at dusk. Another 'bus will leave : Custom-3treet, opposite J. Burns and Co., at twenty minutes to one p.m., via Parnell, and will leave Bishopscourt at one p.m. At a fi 'quarter-past four Dr. J. Logan Campbell will,, plant an acorn from the celebrated Duke of Edinburgh oak on the clubhouse \ lawn. A large entry has been -received for V the mixed foursomes, which will commence between one and two. It has been arranged by the committee that a 14-hole course only If",.shall be played and the course will be as '.?• follows: First hole, No. 14; second hole, No. 15 third hole, No. -16; fourth hole, from * f the 16th green to the first; fifth, second hole ; ' sixth, outpost seventh, ringrox; eighth, Onehunga; ninth, the elbow; 10th, cata""combs ; 11th, the eighth hole; 12th, the ' . ninth; 13th, Jacob's Ladder; 14th, amphitheatre. Afternoon tea will be served in V" the "clubhouse during the afternoon.
