PAKURANGA HUNT CLUB.
The members of the Pakuranga Hunt Club met on Saturday afternoon at Mr. Ellen's homestead, at iHumaia, and the hounds were thrown off in the vicinity. There was a larger muster of members, who were rewarded with a satisfactory afternoon*.? sport. During the early stages of the afternoon the hounds appeared to overrun the scent, the dry state of the ground no doubt accounting for this, but the following had the benefit of several short runs among the scoria, after which a strong hare was put up, and struck out across the road and over Mr. Ellett's paddocks, but was eventually lost near the beach. About four o'clock a smart shower fell, and the hounds then showed better work. Towards evening another hare was •Parted, and led the followers a merry dance for about three miles, but managed eventually to elude her pursuers near the beach. After this the hounds were whipped in. During the afternoon the members were hospitably entertained to afternoon tea by Mrs. F.llett.
