EXCITING SCENE IN A THEATRE.

c?- — EXPLOSION OF GAS. STAMPEDE OF THE AUDIENCE. By Telegraph.—Press Association.— (Received June 7, 5.34 p.m.) , Melbourne, June 7. An" exciting scene took place during a biographic entertainment in the theatre at Tarnagulla last night. The gas from a tube had leaked, and when the operator struck a match an explosion immediately followed, the bricks used in weighting the apparatus being scattered in all directions. Several of the audience were struck, and a stampede set in, a rush being made for the doors. These, however, were found to be fastened, and many persons then clambered through the windows. Several persons were injured, but none seriously.
