[by telegraph.— association.] Palmebston North, Monday. A case of some interest was disposed of at the S.M. Court this morning, Mrs. Wilmolt, licensee of the Provincial Hotel, was charged with permitting drunkenness en her premises. It appeared that the hotel has been purchased by contributions from the separate estates of the defendant and her husband. Subsequently the behaviour of the latter jeopardised the license, and Mrs. Wilmott obtained an order under the Married Women's Property Protection Act, and the hcense*was transferred. Thereafter she signed a document recognising her husband's interest in the property, nud on a distinct understanding with the Licensing Committee that Mr. Wilmott was not to be allowed on the premises. Chi Friday night last Wilmott and his son entered 'the hotel under the influence of liquor and raised a disturb ance. The assistance of the police was obtained. Mr. Greenfield,, S.M., stated that it was clear from the' evidence that the liquor had not been obtained at the Provincial Hotel, and as by a recent decision it was not an offence for a man to remain at a hotel after going there intoxicated, the information would be dismissed. At the Magistrate's Court this morning David Dickie, licensee of the Weston, Hotel, pleaded guilty to allowing liquor to be consumed on the premises by one not a traveller or a lodger on Sunday, the 13tl> just. .The liquor was sold to a bona-fide traveller, and ly him handed to another man. The defendant was fined £2 and £1 14a costs. The license was endorsed.
