ACCIDENT TO A MINE CONTRACTOR.
[BT TELEGRAPH.— CORRESPONDENT.] Waihi, Monday. A mine contractor. Fred Lipsey, left* Waihi about eight o'clock this morning in a horse and buggy ostensibly to drive to Paeroa to catch the boat. This afternoon at half-past four he was brought into Waihi unconscious and terribly cut about the bead. He was taken to Dr. Porter surgery, and operated upon by Drs, Porter and Slater. He was then conveyed to Nurse Oilmour's private hospital in a critical state. It is presumed that Lipsey must have been thrown violently out of tile trap on the hard metal road, but no reliable particulars are yet available.
