BOWLING.

The final contest for the single-handed championship of the Auckland district is to be played this afternoon on tho Auckland Club a Green at two o'clock between Mr. H. 0. Brown (champion of the Mount Eden Club) and Mr. J. M. Lennox (champion of the Remuora Club). A very interesting exposition of the " drawing" game may he expected, as both of those players enjoy high reputations as "leaders." In the matches played up to the present for this year's championship Messrs. Brown and Lennox have won their rounds, the former against Messrs. Ashton and Ledingham, and the latter against' Messrs Wilson and Ralfe, the champions of Mount Albert, Auckland, Newmarket, and Devonport respectively, by sterling play, marked by an almost entire absence of fast shot* It would not be surprising to setBrown pull off the match thus[.securing triple honours for Mount Eden, which holds the inter-dub champion banner and the shield for the champion fours. The following teams will represent the Retauera Bowling Club in the inter-club match to be played to-day with Ponsonby. Hay will start at half-past two p.m. sharp: — Saunderson, Rees George, R. Hull, Laxon (skip); Bodle, Buddie, Kent, the Rev. Beatty (skip) ; Spooner, Finlayson, Maxfield, Bardie (skip); Perrin, Perkins, tho Rov.
