CITY WATER SUPPLY.
SUPPLY FROM PONSONRY RESERVOIR TO BE CUT OFF. _ After the announcement made in yesterday's issue citizens will not be surprised to • learn that the water supply is to be shut off from a portion of the city to-night. The pond at the Western Springs is still going down, and for a few nights at least, beginning from to-night, the water will be cut off from the whole of that portion of the town, supplied from Ponsonby reservoir, from six p.m*. to six a.m. The premises on Ponsonby Road will not be affected, as they are supplied from the Khyber Pass reservoir, but the remainder of the city, north of Karangahape, and the lower levels of Parnell, will be without water from six p.m. to-night till morning. The duration of this experiment will, of course, depend on the weather, but the waterworks engineer hopes to effect a considerable saving in the course of a few days. The City Council request consumers who have hose pipes to be as economical as possible, otherwise the supply for this purpose must be discontinued.
