.'WELLINGTON RACING CLUB'S SUMMER MEETING. SECOND DAY. fBT TELEGRAPH.PRI3S ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Thursday. The racing club was most unfortunate in the matter of weather for their second day's racing. The morning broke .'.with a : fierce nor'-wester, which'■ blew throughout the; day. J Rain fell heavily in the . morning, but took off before the , public left for the course, though it came down again at intervals in the afternoon. (The attendance was materially affected by the : prevailing conditions, and only between 2000 and 3000 were present, which must be regarded as small;': considering it was a public holiday. The strong wind 'which' the horses had ■■ to contend with, together with the heavy condition of the course along the backstretoh, rendered fast times out of the question, and settled the chances of the top weight in more than orie instance. ;: " The amount put '• through the totalisatbr to-day was only £9093, making £18,136 for the two days, as against £27,180 for the corresponding days last year.
