[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] • Wellington, Thursday, ; In reply to Mr. Hogg's representations concerning men out of work in the Wairarapa, Mr. Mackay, of the Labour Department, has written to Mr. Hogg stating that single men cannot be pub on co-operative works while married men are out of employment. ..He further expresses the opinion that there should be sufficient ■ work on the farms in the Wairarapa now for unemployed men. Mr. Mackay possibly does nob know, observes the Post correspondent, that many of the men out of employment in Wairarapa have come down from the Northern districts, and that there is riot sufficient employment here to absorb them.
