Last night rain fell steadily for some hours, reciting in a big flood. ■ To-day-the low-lying portion of the town is under water. A heavy gale prevailed through the night, and a mountainous sea was rolling in. The flood will probably do a good deal of damage in country districts. A dam at the Great Woodstock dredging claim in Shenandoah Creek broke away during last night, stranding the pontoons. The accident is nob of a serious nature, as the pontoons can- be refloated easily while the creek is high.
