AUCKLAND BAND OF HOPE COMPETITION.

The Auckland Band of Hope Union hold an examination at the latter end of the past year on temperance principles and s physiology. ' The text books were specially imported and supplied at cost to intending competitors. They were as follows:—Dr. Ridge's "'Catechism," " Temperance Manual" (by; Charles Wakoly), and ■" Physiology.; and Temperance" 1 (by William Nattrass,? M.D., ; M.R.G.S., : Eng.). ;; The . examination' was -conducted on. very broad lines,; being : open to allcomers, tho only conditions being.tho. purchase of a textbook and the payment -of a;: nominal t : entrance- fee.'
