[ST TELEGRAPH. PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Christchurch,, Tuesday. Hon. C. E. Pilcher, M.L.C., of New South Wales, in the course of an interview, said that federation, if submitted to the people again on the lines of the existing Act, would be rejected by a large majority of all the Australian colonies, as they-are opposed to federation under the scheme of the existing Act. He predicts that if the Common* wealth Government do not realise the absurdity of the course they are adopting the much vaunted federation will be short lived. The people's confidence in the existing federation has been misplaced.
