FLAXMILL BURNED.
Yesterday Inspector Cullen received a report from the constable stationed at Dargaville, stating that on the 2nd inst. a flaxmill and machinery, the property of Messrs. - Edwards Bros., was destroyed by fire. Shortly after the employees stopped work for their midday meal; flames were noticed issuing. from a quantity of tow near the scutching machine. Every effort was made to prevent the fire spreading, but without success, and building and machinery were quickly demolished. It is believed that the fire originated through a spark from the engine on to the tow. The damage is estimated at about £200, and there was no insurance.
