• On Tuesday evening last Mr. Hodgson, of the Northern Boot Company, was invited to make a presentation to Mr. E. J. Osborne, of a silver-mounted pipe and tobacco pouch, on behalf of the clickers and machinists, as a mark of esteem in which Mr. held as foreman of the company. Mr. W. .. Long,, foreman in -the benching and finishing • department, was also presented with a silvermounted pipe by the operatives.

- Yesterday Mr. and Mrs. T. Hodgson celebrated their silver wedding, and a large number of friends were present at the .".At Home,"-held - in the afternoon, in the Kingsland Wesleyan schoolroom. The gathering ■was unique, friends being present who took part in the ceremony a-quarter of a century ago, in the Home land, also those who were associated with Mr. Hodgson under the same < employers in Darlington. There were also friends in attendance representing church, business, and social life. The Wcsleyan ' ministers of the Pitt-street. Grafton Road,

and Devonport circuits were, present, also Mr. Geo. Winstone (chairman of the Northern Boot Company), Mr. R. Walton (president of the Auckland Boot Manufacturers'

Association), and- various other representatives of the leather and boot trade. Numer- . ous letters and telegrams of congratulation ■ were received froir friends in various parts of the colony. ; Mr. and Mrs. Hodgson were the recipients of a large number of valuable presents, including a silver tea service -from the employees of the Northern Boot Company. Congratulatory addresses were given 1 by the Revs. Garland, Bull, Griffith, Chap-, man, and Pinfold, and Messrs. T. Webb, B. Kent, J. Gittos, and T. McMaster. Mr. Hodgson suitably responded.

A wedding of considerable interest ays our Wairna South correspondent) took place at Clevedon on Wednesday, r December " 18,' at the residence -of the bride's ■ mother, the contracting parties being Miss -Ada Atchison, fifth daughtei of the late Mr. Jas. Atchison, and Mr. Percy Tippetts, of Churchill, Waikato, late of Plymouth, England. The-Rev. T. Norrie tied the nuptial knot. The bride was daintily' attired in a stylishly-cut frock of . a creamy soft material, which was exceedingly .becoming, c tulle veil, and beautiful shower bouquet completed most charming costume. Miss Kate Atchison filled the role,of bridesmaid. She was prettily dressed in pink, carrying a- shower uouquet and wearing a massive' gold, bracelet, a gift "of. the bridegroom. The bride's • presents , were very numerous, an evidence of the .young lady's ' deserved popularity.' Mr. C. Atchison gave the bride. away, and Mr. A. Collie officiated as best man. The wedding breakfast was both' elegant and sumptuous, and the spacious diningroom was filled to overflowing with guests. The bride's - travelling dress consisted of a 'tailor-made silk serge, in colour a mixture of" pale blue and gold, . worn with .picture hat of cream tulle, ostrich feathers, and rosettes of narrow black velvet.
