PECULIAR ACCIDENT AT WARKWORTH.

On December 12, while Mr. W. Burke was wrestling in Mr. Horner's saddler's shop with the proprietor of that establishment, he had the misfortune to get a fall and broke his leg. The two men were trying as to who was best at wrestling, Cumberland style. Mr. Horner got the best of his opponent, but he held on to Horner, pulling him down on himself. His foot was caught in some gear lying about, and the consequence was his leg was broken just above the ankle. Constable Stacey, who resides on the opposite side of the street, came over and directed Mr. Horner to go for Dr. Shoesmith, but application was made to Mr. Fail well, the local druggist, who, although making no profession of skill in surgery, with the assistance of Constable Stacey and Mr. Horner, bandaged the injured limb, and conveyed him to the hotel, where he laytill next morning, when he was taken to the Auckland Hospital by the s.s.
