The tone of the market for most classes of investment stock is firm, and in many cases prices show an advance upon last Summary's quotations. The Leyland aid O'Brien Timber Company had a satisfactory year and paid the usual dividend of 10 ].er cent., and also gave the fortunate shareholders a bonus of 2£ per cent., besides carrying a further £3000 to the reserve fund, which now stands at £13,000. Banks : These have been in. demand. New Zealands show a considerable advance upon late quotations and sold at £2 ss, £2 8s 9d and £2 10s. Nationals have also been in request, buyers offering £3 16s. Insurances: A good business in these. New Zealands are much firmer, with pales at £3 9s, £3 9s 6d and £3 10s, closing with sellers at £3 lis and buyers at £3 9s. South British sold at £3 18s 6d, £3 19s and £3 18s 6d, and close with sellers at £4. Nationals sold at 19s 3d cum div. of 9d per share (just paid), and are now offered at 19s ex div. New Zealand Accidents show a further rise and sold at £2 15s and £2 19s, closing with buyers at £2 17s 6d ; sellers ask £3 Is. Shipping: A fair business in these. Devonport Ferrys have been in demand and

sold at £1 18s and £1 19s, closing with buyers at £1 18s 6d. Northern Steam, paid up, sold at 18s 9d cum div., and are bow wanted at 18s ex div. Northern Steam contributing sold at 8s 3d cum div., and close with sellers at 8s 3d ex div. and buyjra at Bs. New Zealand Shipping sold at £7 and £7 Is. Coals: Hikurangis sold at 8s 3d, and buyers now offer 8s 2d. Taupiri Mines sold at 17s and close with buyers at aid sellers at 17s 6d. Westports are wanted at £3 13s 6d. Timber: Leyland and O'Briens are offered at £1 4s, ex div. Kauri Timber, paid up, sold at 9s, and there are buyers at 8s 6d. Kauri Timber contributing sold at Is 9d and 2s, and close with buyers at Is 9d and sellers at 2s. Miscellaneous New Zealand Drugs arc offered at £2 lis. Sharlands are firm with buyers at £1 is 9d and sellers at £1 2s Gd. Buyers of Avondale Brick and Pottery offer £1 4s. D.S.C.'s sold at 9s and Milne and Choyce preference shares at £1 2s 6d and Gas: Auckland, fully paids, sold at £13 12s 6d and £13 15s, closing with buyers at

£13 12s 6d and sellers at £13 17s 6d. Auckland contributing are offered at £12 10s.

£1 2s. Tonson Garlicks are offered at 15s and there are buyers at 14s. New Zealand and River Plate Land Mortgage are firm. Old issue sold at £1 0s 6d and more are wamted at £1; new issue sold at £1 - Is 6d and there are buyers at £1 Is 6d.

Mining: The market for mining stock has been dull. Waihis sold at £6 9« and £6 10s cum div. announced, but there are still sellers at £6 10s; buyers offer £6 7s 6d. Waihi Grand Junctions sold at £115s. Waihi Extendeds sold at 2s 3d, 2s 2d, 2s 3d and 2« 4d, and 2s 6d, 2s 7d, 2s 8d and 2s 9d, call of 2d paid. Waihi Consolidateds sold at Is 4d. Waitokauris sold at 2s 3d. Komata Reefs sold at lOd, 9d and Bd. Talisman Consolidateds are wanted at £1 4s. Crowns are offered at 12s 3d, and there are buyers at lis Bd. Tairua Broken Hills have been weak and dropped to 2s 2d; buyers new offer 2s 2d. Chclmsfords sold at 9d, 3d, 9d and lOd. Welcome Jack, contributing, sold at 2£<l and 3d. Monowais sold at 2s 6d. Broken Hills sold at 3d. Victorias sold at 4d and 3d. Kuranuis sold at 2d and 2^d.
