AGRICULTURAL SHOWS.
[BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN' CORRESPONDENT.] TahraNca, Thursday. The annual show held by the Agricultural and Pastoral Association took place to-day, and was a pronounced success. The weather was delightful, a shower in the early morning cooling the air and laying oil the dust. There was a vory largo attendance of the public, large numbers of visitors being present from all the outside districts. The show of horses and cattle- was especially good, and so were the flower and produce exhibits. There was a fine show of agricultural implements from loading Auckland merchants. A large number of exhibits of horses and cattle wore entered from the coast settlements, and, as a whole, the show was about the most successful ever held here. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Dunkdin, Thursday.
The Ota-go Agricultural and Pastoral Society's Summer Show was opened to-day, and so far has proved ar> advance on previous years. The attendance of course was not large, as to-morrow is people's ih\y. Cattle were more numerous than last year, and probably of better quality. The championships resulted as follows:—Shorthorn, A. Chamberlain, bull and cow; polled Angus, Murray, "Roberts, and Co., bull and cow: Ayrshires, Mrs. H. B. .Ferguson, bull and cow; Alderneys, Qucrtior, bull and cow. There was a good display of fat cattle, and fair competition in the milking classes. The sheep all round show a distinct advance, especially in fine combing merinos and Leicesters. R. Campbell and Son took the championships for ram and ewe in finecombing merino, and W. Telford had _ the champion ram in strong combing. Little Brothers took the prize for the champion ram and ewe. Border Leicester, Lincoln, Romney Marsh, Cheviot, inbred and halfbred, were all good. The judges do not appear to qui to understand judging by points. Pigs were a good class.
