STRIKE ON THE GISBORNEKARAKA RAILWAY.
[BY TELEGRAPH.PRESS ASSOCIATION'.] Gisborne, Thursday. A strike on the Gisborne-Karaka railway line occurred to-day. A gang of 15, wuose wages for the month averaged 7s 5d per working day on co-operative contract, refused to accept the sum. They say that for like work in other places, and with shorter hours, the pay is higher. They complain that they have to remain idle while the engine is being used for other purposes.
