THE NEW FIRE BRIGADE STATION

At last; night's meeting of the Auckland City Council Messrs. Goldsbro' and Wade submitted the tenders received for the erection of the new fire brigade station as follows: —Geo. Baildon, £5175; Arthur Burfoot and Sons, £5230; Walter Fairweather, £5272 ; John Farrell, £5132 ; Ferguson and Malcolm. £5471; J. Ellingham, £5526; J. D. • Jones. £5550; I'hilcox an 3 Sons, £5783; Newson and Coulson, £6274. It was resolved to accept Baildon's tender, subject to everything being in accordance with the specifications. Mr. Parr asked if the money for this work had been raised. The Mayor said it had not been raised, but the debentures would be advertised next week, and he had no doubt the money would be got without trouble.
