WAIKATO GUN CLUB.
On Wednesday afternoon the members of this club fired a series of matchos at Frankton. The results were as follows: — Ten Birds Scratch Sweepstake.—R. J. Gwynne, 8; H. Rowland, 7; W. Iloltby, 6. Ten Birds Handicap Sweepstake.—T. F. Jolly and C. W. Newell, 10; H. Rowland, 9; W. Hoitby and F. B. Jolly, 8; R. J. Gwynne and W. H. Paul, 7. Five Birds Scratch Sweepstake.—H. Rowland, .5 W. Hoitby, 4; R. J. Gwynne, 3; D. W. Ross. 2; C. W. Newell, 1. In the evening a meeting was hold at the Frankton Hotel, Mr. R. J. Gwynne in the chair. It was decided to enter a team for the Ballistite Cup, to be shot for on the association's grounds on Novembe. 15, at 30 birds, and individual entries were received for the other events. The secretary was instructed to challenge a toun ot six from No. 1 Company, Waikat-o Mounted Rifles, to shoot a match at inanimate birds on November D, a return rifle match to be arranged later. It was resolved to send a team to Cambridge on the invitation of Messrs. Soutcr and Co. on :i date t«_- be arranged. The following were elected to represent the club in the Ballistite Cup match:—Messrs. A. Dobson, S. Harlcer, 11. Rowland, F. Seccombe, F. B. Jolly, W. 1-Ioltby; emergency, Mr. R. J. Gwynne.'The entries for the othe. events at the asr.icintion's meeting were: For the Herald and Colonial Ammunition Company's trophies: Messrs. Dobson, Harder, Rowland, Gwynne, Jolly, Hoitby, and Seccombe. For the Open Handicap: Messrs. Jolly, Dobson, Hoitby, Seccombe, Rowland, and Ilarker. The team to shoot against the Waikato Mounted Rifles will comprise Messrs. Rowland, Jolly (2)* Harker, Gwynne, and Hoitby.
