Information* has been received here that Mr. Barnes, the agent of the Bank of NewZealand, when returning from Mangaonoho to Hunterville, after the weekly opening of the bank here, was yesterday stuck up by some unknown persons and liis horse shot. The wound did not take effect for some time, and a further shot was fired without hitting. Mr. Barnes escaped. The haul would have totalled £1500 in notes and cash.
