THE FARMERS AND LABOUR LEGISLATION.

« [IST TELEGKArH. —MIESS ASSOCIATION.] Timabu, Sunday. A meeting of farmers, held yesterday, to form a union, was attended by about 120, and after hearing Messrs. Maslin and Action, it was unanimously resolved to form a union. The chief argument used was that it was necessary to unite to conserve the interests of farmers from injuries threatened by recent and proposed labour legislation. It was agreed that farm labourers may be members of the union. A committee of 12 was appointed to draw up a scheme and rules. The committee will propose a subscription of 2s 6d, and limit emergency calls to 2s 6d more.
