CUSTOMS RETURNS.
The Customs returns for* the month of June, 1901, are ■• as follows: The 1 net >■ Customs duties were £35,773 lis 3d, as against £34,682 0s 4d last year, showing an increase of £1091 lis Id. The net beer duties this year amounted to £1199 19s 6d, as against £1387 2s 6d last year, a decrease of £187' 3s. The export of gold was 13,1140z, valued at £46,743, as against •13,3680z, ;/ valued •'. at £50,259 last year, • showing a decrease "of 2540z, to the value of £3516. The silver exported amounted to 38,7960z, valued "at £4392, as against 21,9920z, valued at £2598 last year, a substantial increase of 16,8040z, valued at £2194. The butter export was 1126c\vt, valued at £5152, as against 446cwt, valued at £2094 last year, an increase of 680cwt in value, worth £3058. The cheese export was 647cwt,: valued at £1350, as against 300cwt, valued at £640, last year, an increase of 347cwt, worth £710. Tho frozen beof exported was 1940 quarters, weighing 3500w-t, valued at £408, as against 19680wt, last year, valued at £2296, a, decrease of 1618cwt, valued at £1888. The amount of frozen mutton was 831 carcases, weighing 425cwt, and valued at £497, as against 1710 carcases, weighing 884cwt, valued at £1032 last year, a decrease of 879 carcases.
