HORTICULTURAL CONFERENCE.

[BY TELEGRAPH.PRISTS -ASSOCIATION.] Dunedin, Friday. At the conference of delegates of the Horticultural Society a number of papers were read and discussed, including one on bee culture. A resolution was passed that, with a view to helping bee culture, the Governvernment should appoint a bee expert, and that the Government be recommended to pass legislation to enable the Agricultural Department to deal with foul brood. 'J'he conference was closed la-f.it night. A draft of the constitution of the National Horticultural Society was adopted, and a provisional committee was appointed, with Mr. A. Bathgate as president. The Orchard and Garden Pests'Bill, as amended by the committee appointed, was adopted, and the Government is to be urged to speedily pass it. The Auckland members dissented on the ground that until a specific has been discovered for the codlin moth such a measure would unduly harass fruit-growers. The frnit show was largely attended yesterday, about £150 being taken at the doors.
