THAMES BOROUGH COUNCIL

[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN" CORRESPONDENT-] Thames, Thursday. At a meeting of the Thames Borough Council this evening a letter was received from Mr. E. N. Miller, offering a section of land in Upper Crahamstown for the sum of £350 as a nucleus for a recreation-ground. The section of land offered has frontages to Owen, Golden Crown, and Haven Streets, and is in close proximity to both the Goods Wharf and the raiiwav station. The letter was referred to the General Purposes Committee for consideration. Mr. William Scott wrote, resigning his position as the Council's representative on tho Thames High School Board of Governors, and Mr. A. Burns was elected to fill the position. Mr. W. J. Deeble resigned his seats as the Council's representative on the Harbour, Hospital and Charitable Aid, and District Hospital Boards, owing to his being about to leave the Thames to take up his residence in Auckland. The resignations were received, and Mr. W. Davy was appointed as jho Council's representative on the Harbour Board. The other vacancies were left over to he dealt with at next meeting. Mr. Deoblc subsequently tendered his resignation as one of the members for the North Ward in the Council.
