ATHLETIC NOTES.
'AUCKLAND RUGBY UNION'S CHAMPIONSHIPS. The weekly meeting of the Management Committee, of the Auckland Rugby Union was hold at the rooms of the Amateur Sports Club last evening, Mr. F. M. Jervis in the chair. A player and a spectator reported by a referee for insulting language were warned off the ground until the end of next season. Arrangements for Saturday's matches wero made as under:— FIRST FIFTEENS. No. 1 ground: Grafton v. City, Mr. A. Campbell. No. 2 ground: Newton v. Parnell, Mr. Pelham. No. 3 ground: Ponsonby v. Suburbs, Mr. Boyce. SECOND FIFTEENS. No. 4 ground: Grafton v. City, Mr. P. Mackic. No. 5 ground: Newton v. Parnell, Mr. White. At Ellorslie: Ponsonby v. Suburbs, Mr. Kerr. THIRD FIFTEEN'S. No. 6 ground: City v. Parnell. Mr. Greenhough. No. 7 ground: Grafton v. Ponsonby B, Mr. Molloy. No. 8 ground: Newton v. Ponsonby A, Mr. Ohlson. PUBLIC schools' competitions. The public schools' championships will be resumed on Saturday, when the grounds and referees will be as under: — No. 1 ground: Ponsonby v. Wellesleystreet, Mr. Murray. No. ?. ground: Napier-street v. Onehunga, Mr. Mackie. No. 5 ground: Grafton v. Newton East, Mr. Pciham. No. 4 ground: Nelson-street v. Richmond Road, .Mr. Wakey. No. 5 ground: Parnell v. Mount Eden, Mr. Boyce. No. 6 ground: Newmarket v. Chapelstreet, Mr. Greenhough. No. 7 ground: Epsom v. Welleslev-street B. Mr. Molloy. At North Shore: Beresford-street v. Ohlson j (chairman) presiding In response to appli- : cations from country unions, Mr. F. Sur- ; nan was appointed to referee in a match at C'cvoclon and Mr. Knox to a match at Tua-k.-.u. It was left to the secretary to arrange for a referee for a match at Waihi. After the ordinary business hail been transacted, a conference was held with captains and players of district clubs, when the decisions arrived at at the recent conference of referees at. Wellington with regard to the interpretation of certain of the laws of the game were explained by the chairman. It was decided that the interpretations as published in the Herald of Monday last will come into force as from Saturday next.
