REMARKS ON THE JURY SYSTEM. [11V TELEtiltAl'U. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] NkI.SON, Wednesday. At the sittings of the Supreme Court, held to-day, before the Chief .Justice, the only criminal case was that of Charles Watson, win., was brought up for sentence on a charge of indecently assaulting his own daughter. He bad * pleaded guilty in the Lower Court. He was sentenced to two years' imprisonment. Decrees nisi were granted in the divorce cases Beamsley v. Buamsley and Jewelt v. Jewell, both on husbands' petitions, on the ground of desertion. There was no appearance of the respondent in either case. In addressing the grand jury, His Honor made a few remarks on the jury system, defending if from recent attacks, and expressing dissent from those who advocated the abolition of either grand or common juries.
