SURPLUS ON AUCKLAND RECEPTION.
The accounts in connection with the A lick - 'and reception have not yet been fully adjusted, but so far as could be seen at the last meeting of the Finance Committee the total expenditure will be about £2400, of which the City Council would have to contribute £800." This, with the funds in hand, would leave a surplus of about £300. A full statement will, however, be laid before the General Committee, when the accounts have been properly adjusted.
THE ADELAIDE PROGRAMME. Adelaide, June 13. Preparations are being pushed on rapidly for illuminating the city for the. Royal visit. Dynamos and engines are arriving, and the Railway Department has lent rive locomotives for use as stationary boilers. The Government are contracting their decorations in King William-street, northerly from the Queen's Statue. As at present arranged, the sequence of events will be as follows: — The landing at Port Adelaide will take place on Tuesday, July 9. at half-past two p.m., and the procession through the streets of the city will commence at three o'clock. On the following day the. Royal levee and the presentation of addresses will take place at Government House. The Duchess of Cornwall and York will visit the hospitals during the morning. In the afternoon a football match between St. Peter's and Prince Alfred Colleges will begin on the Adelaide Oval, and His Royal Highness will be present during part of the play. A dinner partywill be given at Government House at halfpast seven, and at half-past nine a reception will take place. On Thursday, at noon, the Royal party will visit the University, and the State schools' demonstration will be held on the Adelaide Oval at three o'clock in the afternoon. Another reception will take place at Government House in the evening at half-past nine. The morning and afternoon of Friday will be occupied by a shooting excursion to Rucklnnd Park, where game is plentiful, and at eight o'clock in the evening there will be a fireworks display on Montefiore Hill. On Saturday, July 13. the Duke will lay the foundation stone of the Queen Victoria Maternity Home in Rose Park at noon, and a military review. with the presentation of war medals, will take place at three p.m.. in Victoria Park. In the evening there will be a reception by the State Government in the Exhibition Building, tie concert beginning at eight o'clock. On the same evening a military ta-too will be held on the Adelaide Oval. The nave of St. Peter's Cathedral will be opened by the Duke on Sunday morning at half-past eleven, and the embarkation for Fremantle will take place from Glenelg, if the weather is favourable, on Monday, July 15.
The city will be illuminated every evening iii the week. The Government has been making arrangements whereby the children attending the public and private schools may have an opportunity of safely witnessing 'he procession of the Duke and Duchess. For this purpose Wakefield - street and part of Pulteney-street will be reserved, and steps will be taken to prevent anyone being present in the reserved areas except the residents of those streets.
