Mr. Parr appeared for the plaintiff, instructed by Mr. Nicholson, and Mr. Edmund Mahony for the defendant, instructed by Mr. C. F. Griffiths. Plaintiff is a builder and defendant a plasterer, and the claim was in respect of work and labour done and extras supplied in connection with the erection of a dwelling in Clifton Road, Ponsouby. and owned bv defendant. The defence was that the contract was not carried out in a workmanlike manner, and that the extras were not as alleged, but formed part of the contract. His Worship reserved judgment. POLICE COURT NEWS. Mews. F. 1.. Prime and T. Peacock, J.P.'s, presided at the Holier, Court yesterday. John Kean was lined 10s, or'in dofault 18 hours' imprisonment, and William Smith, similarly charge'!, was fined 10s, or in default seven dcys' hard labour. David Mills was remanded till the 24th hist, on a charge of 'being found by night without lawful excuse on tho promises of John Whisker, at Newmarket. For allowing a horse to wander m Hobson-Mroot William Preston Mas lined 10s and costs 7s; and Peter (landley was convicted and discharged for leaving a vehicle unattended in Beach Road.
