FARMERS' UNION DAIRY CONFERENCE.

'J'iik settlers' excursion trains for the winter trips of the Dairy Farmers' (Taranaki) Confen i of the Farmers' Union on Tuesday and Wednesday were a great success. After luncheon photos, were taken. .Messrs. Webby, MeCuire, and K vines were present. Both are members of the union. Messrs. Symes and 'turner both gave general addresses, praising the union, and piomising every assistance. -Mr. Glass leplied, stating thai he could leave Taranaki (plile hupp v. 'Ihere was no opposition to the union. Both sides were supporting it, and he thanked the Taranaki fanners for their hospitality and kindness, 'three hearty eheeis for Mr. Class were given on ills leaving the meeting. The following questions were dealt with:— The valuations of hinds, wasting timber on Crown lands. and honorary numbers were struck out. 'the union gazette was postponed. North .Auckland trade with Taranaki is to be encouraged. Wine licenses are to be advocated to help the N'orlh of Auckland. Local bodies to have the expenditure of money, not the Covernincnt. Land boards to be elective. In reference to lite insurance rales all brandies are to be communicated with, the decision to be given at Ihe Wellington onference m July. Harbour beards to lie elective The labour question was struck oil'. The Civil Service reform and abolition of imprisonment for debt to be considered by the executive. The canvassing clauses in the Election Act to be. struck out. In the Local Loans to Local Bodies Act au amend- % incut was curried.
