THE CAPE RAIDERS.
A COMMANDO SURPRISED AND ROUTED. CAPTURE OF A GUN. London, June 13. Colonel Scobell, at dawn on the 6th, surprised Letter's, one of Kruitzinger's commandos, consisting of 100, laagered in a valley at Kingscrown, preparing to attack Barkty East. The Boer pickets on a hill gave warning.
Colonel Scobell sent a squadron of Cape Mounted Rifles, under Captain Lukin, to reconnoitre the main column. Descending the hills in the darkness, Captain Lukin shouting ''Hands -up,'' charged with his squadron.
The enemy bolted, leaving their spare horses and 13.000 rounds of ammunition. Fourteen prison, were ta';en and a gun. At sunrise the, Biilish completed t-hs rout of the Boors.
